1. pass the time

關于pass，時間過得特別快可以說“Time passes so quickly”，而打發時間可以說pass the time。

When Paula was ill, I took her some magazines to help her pass the time.
葆拉生病時，我給她帶去一些雜志幫她消磨時間。

2. no time to lose

用這個短語催促別人，意思是“沒時間耽擱”。

Come on, there's no time to lose, we have to get home before John finds out.
趕快，沒有時間耽擱了，我們必須在約翰發現之前趕到家。

還可以說，time is of the essence。意思是“時間是關鍵，時間很寶貴”。

3. have time

這里的time是（可以用來做某事的）時間，理解為足夠的時間或者是額外的時間，比如：

I don't know how you find time to do all the things you do.
我不知道你是怎么抽出時間做所有這些事情的。

4. have time on your side

我們知道，have someone on your side是有人是跟你站在同一邊的，也就是被支持的意思，所以have time on your side 表示時間是跟你站在同一邊，表示（某人）有充裕的時間。也可以說time is on sb's side。另外，have time on your hands等于to have nothing to do，意思是無事可做。

5. two-time

這是動詞哦，意思是腳踏兩條船；對…不忠。

I ended the relationship when I found out he was two-timing me.
當我發現他腳踏兩條船時，就分手了。

two-timer就是“對愛情不忠者，腳踏兩條船者”。

如果有任何一方已婚，那用having an affair（外遇）形容會比較恰當。

6. be watching the clock

等于have/keep your eye on the clock，形容因厭煩或急于離開而老是看表。

I had a train to catch, so I was watching the clock all through the meeting.
我得趕火車，所以開會的時候我一直在不停地看時間。

7. call it a day

這個習語的意思是，今天工作就到這了，可以回家了、可以休息了。

I'm getting a bit tired now - let's call it a day.
我有些累了——收工吧。

8. in this day and age

替代“at the present time”，意思是如今，當前，當今。

You can't afford to run businesses inefficiently in this day and age.
如今低效經營企業是行不通的。

9. shelf life

它（尤指食品的）貨架期，保質期，不過也可以形容“可以使用（受歡迎或成功）的時限”。

These days many marriages have a fairly short shelf life.
這個時代，許多婚姻都無法持久。

10. in due course

due這個形容詞意思是預計的，預期的。

短語表示在（將來）適當的時候，到時候。

You will receive notification of the results in due course.
到時候你會收到結果通知的。
